Did you know that NJ State Code Title 39-10A states that:
- Agencies are required to notify all owners, lien holders, or lease holders of impounded vehicles, by certified mail within 3 business days once they have verified ownership of the vehicle.
- All impounded vehicles classified as abandoned shall be sold no later than "90 business days" after agency takes possession of the vehicle except by special waiver.
- The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) must be notified when abandoned vehicles are being scheduled for auction.
CIPS has found that many Parking agencies in New Jersey and other states are not in compliance with their State's statues!
Often this is because the process involves many manual processing and notification steps that agencies are taxed to complete in the required time period.
CIPS Abandon Vehicle Auction Processing Service (AVAPS) handles all of the Pre-Auction, Auction, and Post-Auction processing needed to complete State requirements.
Here are some of the steps we handle for you:
- Review and record all impounded vehicles processed in last 24 hours.
- Daily verification that all released vehicles have been as recorded by Towers.
- Look up Vehicle Registration information (Agency subscription required) .
- Ensure all vehicle releases are current and complete.
- Print impound notification letters for vehicle owners, lien holders, and Lease Owner
- Package and mail Certified notification letters to vehicle owners, lien holders, and Lease Owner Postage included).
- Take pictures (min. of 5) of all vehicles scheduled for auction. Requires traveling to Tower’s or Agencies holding lots.
- Reserve Auction date with GovDeals.com (Agency account required).
- Upload all pictures and descriptions to GovDeals.com.
- Generate and mail State Title request forms (i.e. OS/SS-89 and OS/SS-89 NICB Title forms in NJ).
- Generate OS/SS-89 NICB Title forms.
- Contact Towers or Agencies to arrange vehicle inspections dates and locations.
- Generate Press advertisement for newspaper.
- Advertise Auction in local newspaper and social web sites.
